Cold Weather is on the Way

Let RWB prepare your car for winter weather.Don’t let your car go unprepared for harsh winter elements. December is here! And while the the weather and temperatures are still relatively mild, it won’t be long before Snellville and east metro Atlanta will succumb to the cold months of January and February. It’s time to prepare your car for winter.

Inspect and correct performance problems.
Don’t let hard starts, rough idling, stalling, diminished power, etc. leave you stranded. Cold weather makes existing problems worse.

Be alert for freezing temperatures.
Keeping your gas tank filled helps prevent moisture from forming.

The radiator and cooling system should be flushed and refilled as recommended.
Drive belts, clamps, and hoses also should be checked regularly by a professional technician.

Inspect the heater and defroster.
These must be in good working condition for passenger comfort and driver visibility.

Inspect and replace windshield wiper blades.
Stock up on windshield washer solvent. And don’t forget to always carry an ice scraper.

Have the battery checked.
The only accurate way to detect a weak battery is with professional equipment. Call us to learn more.

Inspect all lights and bulbs.
Replace burned out bulbs as needed.

Inspect your exhaust system for fumes that can leak inside your car.
The trunk and floorboards should also be inspected for small holes. Carbon monoxide can result in serious illness or death.

Check tires for wear and tread.
Worn tires are dangerous in winter weather. Examine tires for remaining tread life, uneven wearing, and cupping. Don’t forget to check your spare. Make sure the jack is in good working condition, too.

Check the brakes periodically.
Be alert for problems for safety reasons and to prevent costly repairs that can be caused by neglect.

Finally, always carry an emergency kit with you.
Pack extra gloves, boots and blankets, a flashlight and extra batteries, and a cell phone car charger. Put a few “high-energy” snacks in your glove box. Another round of snowmageddon may soon be here!
